We mourn a bit when one of our big old trees goes down. This one (a 200+ year-old lime tree) was the victim Sunday evening of a terrific storm that blew in from the west, bringing winds of 60 mph and a torrent of rain. It was over in 15 minutes, but a tour of the park Monday morning revealed the destruction. At least four other smaller trees were felled, virtually all paths on our 24-acre property were blocked by fallen limbs, and twigs were scattered everywhere. Today we start up the chain saw to prepare the firewood for next winter.

wow! as a post script…we grew up in the polish neighborhoods of South Bend IND….but moved to the suburbs of Chicago and also San Diego to raise our children. Now, we are peacefully retired in the lovely state of South Carolina!
